PELATIHAN PEMBUATAN DAN PENGGUNAAN ALAT PERAGA MATEMATIKA DARI BAHAN SEDERHANA UNTUK GURU SEKOLAH DASAR DI SDN SUGIHWARAS 1

Effective mathematics instruction requires strategies that transform abstract concepts into more concrete and meaningful learning experiences. However, many elementary schools face limitations in accessing commercial and technologically advanced teaching aids. This study aimed to provide training for teachers at SDN Sugihwaras 1 in developing and utilizing mathematics teaching aids made from simple and affordable materials, such as cardboard, popsicle sticks, and string. The training was conducted in two stages: (1) practical workshops on designing and constructing teaching aids applicable to various mathematical topics, including addition, multiplication, and measurement, and (2) instructional sessions on integrating these aids into classroom learning to enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding. The findings indicate that teachers were able to create functional and low-cost teaching aids and apply them effectively in mathematics lessons. Teachers reported increased confidence in explaining complex mathematical concepts, while students demonstrated improved understanding by connecting theoretical ideas with concrete representations. This program highlights the importance of teacher creativity and resource optimization in improving mathematics learning quality and may serve as a practical model for other elementary schools facing similar resource constraints.
