This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a multicultural-based English communicative learning model using a sociolinguistic approach in improving students’ communicative competence in Madiun City. The background of this study is grounded in the demands of 21st-century English language education, which emphasizes not only linguistic competence but also cultural awareness, pragmatic ability, and sensitivity to social contexts of language use. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and analysis of instructional documents to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the learning process and its outcomes. The findings reveal that the sociolinguistic approach effectively enhances students’ understanding of language variation, cultural contexts, and social norms in communication. Teachers demonstrated significant improvement in integrating local and global cultural values into English learning materials. Moreover, students showed positive responses toward the learning process, indicated by increased motivation, self-confidence, and enthusiasm in using English for communication. Overall, multicultural-based English learning through a sociolinguistic approach proved effective in developing more authentic, relevant, and context-sensitive communicative competence suitable for contemporary multicultural societies.
