This study aims to identify the causes of children being accompanied by their parents during study time and the effects of such accompaniment. The research was conducted at TK Muslimat Sumursongo, located in Karas District, Magetan Regency. To achieve the research objectives, a qualitative method was used. The subjects studied consisted of three parents who accompanied their children during study hours. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that parental accompaniment during children’s learning at kindergarten has a significant impact on child development. This is caused by the application of a permissive parenting style by the parents, who tend to provide excessive attention (spoiling the child) and excessive worry about the child (overprotective). As a result, the children feel constrained and do not have enough opportunities to learn appropriately for their age of 4-5 years, which hinders their emotional, motor, and social development.
As an effect of parental accompaniment on children aged 4-5 years during learning, there are several aspects that influence the social development of the child, including: 1) Giving excessive affection (permissive parenting style), causing parents to worry if their child becomes fussy and feel the need to always stay close to them; 2) The child's need for special attention caused by a spoiled nature, so the child always wants to be accompanied; 3) The child's social aspect is poorly developed, where low social awareness leads to poor adaptability, making the child feel more comfortable only when near their parents.
