Abstract

This study examines curriculum innovation through the integration of Deep Learning and the Teaching with Heart approach in contemporary education. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method using a Systematic Literature Review design to analyze academic literature related to meaningful learning, humanistic pedagogy, and curriculum transformation. Data were collected from books, journal articles, educational policy documents, and academic publications indexed in several scholarly databases. The findings indicate that Deep Learning contributes positively to student engagement, learning motivation, reflective thinking, and conceptual understanding through active, contextual, collaborative, and meaningful learning experiences. The Teaching with Heart approach also strengthens pedagogical relationships between teachers and students by promoting empathy, emotional support, and positive classroom interaction. The implementation of innovative instructional strategies such as Project Based Learning, Problem Based Learning, reflective learning, collaborative discussion, and authentic assessment supports the development of twenty-first century competencies, including critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and character formation. However, several challenges remain, including memorization-oriented learning culture, limited teacher understanding, insufficient professional training, and teacher-centered instructional practices. Overall, this study concludes that integrating Deep Learning and Teaching with Heart provides an effective framework for creating meaningful, humanistic, and student-centered educational environments.
