The synergy between school and home environments is a key determinant of the successful implementation of inclusive education, particularly for students with special needs (ABK). This community service program was conducted in Magetan Regency with the aim of creating a supportive home-based learning environment to ensure the continuity of students’ cognitive and motor development. The program was implemented through craft skills training and psychological mentoring activities designed to equip parents with adaptive parenting strategies and creative skills that also possess economic potential. The primary focus of the program was to synchronize instructional practices between teachers and parents so that learning activities at school are reinforced and aligned with stimulation provided in the home environment.
The results of the program demonstrated strengthened emotional bonds between students and their families through an inclusive, art-based approach. In addition to enhancing students’ mental readiness and independence, the program contributed to reducing social stigma within the community by promoting appreciation for tangible products independently created by students with special needs. The findings indicate that empowering parents not only supports students’ educational development but also fosters family economic resilience and social inclusion. This program concludes that multidimensional collaboration among schools, families, and communities plays a critical role in accelerating student independence as the ultimate goal of special education.
