Keywords:
Parenting Patterns, Parents, Independence, ChildrenAbstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting styles and children's independence. This study used quantitative methods. The population was all children aged 5-6 years and their parents at the Muslimat NU Ngrogung Kindergarten. The sample size was the entire population.
The sampling technique used in this study was non-probability sampling with saturated sampling. Data collection involved interviews and questionnaires. Instrument validity was based on expert judgment and SPSS 25 for Windows. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha. Hypothesis testing used the Spearman Rank correlation test with a significance level of 0.05.
The results showed a relationship between democratic, authoritarian, and permissive parenting styles and children's independence, as indicated by correlations of 0.844, 0.764, and 0.780, respectively, with significance levels less than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that all three parenting styles are related to children's independence. Therefore, parenting style is one of several factors influencing children's independence.
