Character education is a fundamental component in shaping students’ moral, social, and academic development in higher education institutions. This study examines the management of character education at Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Indonesia, and LR DAV College Jagraon, India, focusing on how both institutions design, implement, and evaluate character-building programs. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observation. The findings show that both institutions have effectively applied management principles in planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring character education initiatives. However, several challenges remain, including limited stakeholder involvement, inconsistent program execution, and varying levels of student engagement. To address these challenges, both institutions have developed improvement strategies such as forming dedicated implementation and monitoring teams, strengthening evaluation mechanisms through teacher and staff assessments, and conducting continuous socialization of character development programs through curricular and extracurricular activities. Overall, this study highlights the importance of systematic and collaborative management in ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of character education in higher education settings.
