The speaking ability of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Ngariboyo remains relatively low due to limited opportunities for practicing English in the classroom. This research aims to develop a Snake and Ladder game as a learning medium to improve students’ English-speaking skills. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from Borg and Gall, covering four stages: initial research and information collecting, planning, developing the preliminary product, and operational field testing. The product developed in this research focused on vocabulary related to animals and places as the basis for speaking activities. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and interviews, and analyzed using learner content analysis, descriptive analysis, and test result analysis. The developed media obtained feasibility validation results of 85% from media experts, 86.6% from material experts, and 85% from classroom teachers, all falling into the “Good” category. Field testing conducted with 10 students resulted in 89.7%, also categorized as “Good.” These findings indicate that the Snake and Ladder game is a feasible, engaging, and effective learning medium for enhancing speaking skills among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Ngariboyo. The game-based approach provided opportunities for vocabulary enrichment and encouraged active participation during English-speaking activities.
