This community service project aims to analyze the role of innovative learning in developing student character through arts and creativity. Arts- and creativity-based learning is an effective approach to strengthening non-academic competencies, especially character formation in the school context. Character values such as responsibility, discipline, cooperation, and empathy can be fostered through learning models integrating various art forms, including music, visual arts, dance, and theater. Innovative learning that emphasizes creativity also encourages students to think critically, express themselves, and appreciate cultural diversity.
This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design in several elementary and secondary schools that have implemented arts- and creativity-integrated learning within their curriculum. The findings show that this learning approach significantly contributes to the development of student character, particularly in aspects such as self-confidence, empathy, teamwork, and motivation to learn. Moreover, the integration of arts in learning activities has been proven to enhance students’ engagement and positively influence their academic performance. Therefore, innovative learning that incorporates arts and creativity should be strengthened as a key strategy for character development in education.
