THE EFFECT OF AUDIO-VISUAL MEDIA TOWARDS STUDENTS’ACHIEVEMENT IN LISTENING SKILL AT SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 1 MAOSPATI

The objective of this research is to determine whether audio-visual media affect students’ achievement in listening skills among seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Maospati in the academic year 2021/2022. This study used a quantitative method with an intact-group comparison design. The population consisted of seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Maospati, while the samples were class VII A as the experimental group (15 students) taught using audio-visual media, and class VII C as the control group (15 students) taught without audio-visual media. Data were collected using a listening test. Data analysis techniques included the normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test. The results of the prerequisite tests indicated that both samples were normally distributed and homogeneous. The t-test results showed that tobtained = 11.108 > ttable = 1.701, indicating a significant effect of audio-visual media on students’ listening achievement. It can be concluded that audio-visual media have a positive impact on the listening achievement of seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Maospati.
