PENDAMPINGAN RINTISAN DESA WISATA DI KELURAHAN KRATON, KECAMATAN MAOSPATI

Village-based tourism development represents a strategic effort to optimize local potential; however, many regions encounter challenges in transforming existing assets into structured and marketable tourism products. Kraton Village, located in the center of Maospati District and characterized by historical value and strategic accessibility, possesses significant tourism potential that remains underutilized due to limited institutional capacity and branding strategies. This community service initiative aimed to initiate the establishment of a Tourism Village (Desa Wisata) embryo by strengthening local governance, capacity, and promotional readiness. The program employed Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approaches through intensive mentoring, field observation, and collaborative planning. Key activities included the identification of “Kraton Heritage” icons, institutional strengthening of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), digital branding workshops, and mapping of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs/UMKM) for tourism integration. The results indicate increased community readiness to manage tourism resources and the formalization of a strategic development roadmap. Additionally, a digital promotional catalog was produced, and a dedicated Pioneer Team was established to sustain tourism management initiatives. This program contributes to building a competitive and self-sustaining community-based tourism ecosystem in Maospati District.
