The advancement of digital technology significantly influences the quality of learning, particularly in developing interactive media for English language education. This study aims to develop a flipbook as a learning medium for teaching the Simple Past Tense and to examine its attractiveness and effectiveness in improving students’ writing skills. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Borg and Gall model. The participants were eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Ngariboyo in the 2021/2022 academic year. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, student questionnaires, and writing tests. The findings indicate that the developed flipbook met the criteria for validity, with scores of 100% from material experts, 86% from media experts, and 84% from learning experts. The flipbook also demonstrated a high level of attractiveness, as evidenced by student responses reaching 86.5%. In addition, the effectiveness test showed an improvement in student achievement, with the total score increasing from 1305 on the pretest to 1740 on the posttest, resulting in a gain of 436 points. These results suggest that the flipbook is valid, attractive, and effective for use in teaching the Simple Past Tense to enhance students’ writing skills. The product is therefore feasible to be implemented as an innovative digital learning medium in English instruction.
