Training and mentoring for teachers who work with children with special needs (ABK) in Magetan were conducted to enhance educators’ knowledge and skills in addressing the diverse challenges faced by children with special needs. This program was designed to equip teachers with a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of children with special needs and to provide effective, adaptive teaching strategies tailored to individual learning needs. In addition, continuous mentoring was implemented to ensure that the theoretical knowledge gained during training could be applied effectively in daily educational practice.
The training program employed various methods, including theoretical sessions on autism, behavioral disorders, and other conditions commonly experienced by children with special needs, as well as practical workshops focusing on classroom management, instructional strategies, and teacher–student interactions. Ongoing mentoring supported teachers in implementing inclusive practices and overcoming challenges encountered in real classroom settings.
The results of the training and mentoring program indicate significant improvements in teachers’ abilities to create inclusive learning environments, support children’s developmental needs, and enhance the overall quality of education for children with special needs in Magetan. This program also offers recommendations for strengthening regional inclusive education policies and highlights the importance of sustained professional development to improve teaching quality in the future.
