This study examines human resource management (HRM) practices in cassava-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operated by productive families in Mangge Sub-district, Barat District, Magetan Regency. Using a realistic field-research simulation model, the study applies a qualitative descriptive case-study approach involving simulated interviews with 18 MSME actors, observations of production processes, and document analysis. The findings indicate that HRM practices—recruitment within family networks, task division, skill development, performance coordination, and simple incentive mechanisms—significantly affect productivity, product quality, and business continuity. Key constraints include limited managerial skills, uneven digital literacy, and informal standard operating procedures. The study proposes an HRM improvement framework comprising competency mapping, micro-training modules, simple SOPs, and digital adoption for marketing and operations. Strengthening HRM capacity is essential to enhance competitiveness and sustainability of cassava-based MSMEs in rural contexts.
