Adolescents with special needs (Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus/ABK) face a higher risk of sexual violence due to communication barriers and limited understanding of reproductive health. This community service program aimed to strengthen the support system between schools and families in Magetan Regency through structured sexual safety education. The program employed a preventive approach involving training for teachers and parents, as well as direct mentoring for ABK adolescents focusing on bodily autonomy, personal boundaries, and self-protection strategies.
The main emphasis of this activity was the synchronization of educational methods between educators and families to manage the puberty phase of ABK adolescents in a calm, informed, and harmonious manner, thereby preventing impulsive behaviors and potential risks. The results demonstrated increased awareness among ABK adolescents in recognizing inappropriate behavior and confidently refusing unwanted physical contact. This improvement contributed to reducing vulnerability to sexual harassment within the East Java region.
Socially, the program fostered collective awareness within the Magetan community that adolescents with special needs are legal subjects with fundamental human rights, including bodily safety and access to appropriate reproductive health education. The program concludes that strong preventive collaboration between teachers and parents not only enhances family security but also promotes a more inclusive, respectful, and civilized social environment. Integrating sexual safety education with independence-oriented guidance proved effective in strengthening the dignity and self-worth of ABK adolescents in both public and professional settings.
