Abstract

This purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of students’ learning outcomes in Civics subject through the Debate Type Cooperative Learning model. The research approach applied is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a partisan type. This study applies 2 cycles. The subjects of this study were fifth grade students of SDN Tamanan 2 school year 2018/2019. The data sources used are students, teachers, and document data. The data collection technique applied is observation to obtain data about the implementation of improvement in student learning and activities, tests to collect data on student learning outcomes, and documentation to collect written data. Data analysis was carried out with a qualitative-descriptive approach based on each data collection technique. The results showed that students’ learning outcomes from the pre cycle, cycle I, and cycle II experienced an increase of 42.86%, 76.19%, and 100%. While the activities of students in learning from cycle I to cycle II also experienced an increase.
