The implementation of high-quality inclusive education requires concrete and applicable mentoring instruments to support educators in diverse classroom settings. This community service program was conducted in Magetan Regency with the objective of equipping teachers with professional managerial and pedagogical tools for effectively assisting children with special needs (ABK) in regular classrooms. The methods employed included workshops on the development of behavioral observation instruments, mentoring in the preparation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), and simulations for addressing learning barriers faced by students.
The primary focus of this activity was to transform the teacher’s role into that of a precise and responsive mentor capable of fostering a safe, protective, and child-friendly school environment oriented toward student independence. The results of the program indicated a significant increase in teachers’ self-efficacy in managing classroom diversity, as well as the availability of standardized service protocol documents at the institutional level. Strategically, the program strengthened the school’s position as an inclusive education provider that is adaptive to students’ character and skill development.
In conclusion, the presence of concrete and systematic mentoring instruments is an essential prerequisite for establishing a healthy inclusive climate in schools. In the long term, this initiative contributes to building a superior and trustworthy institutional reputation within the community in delivering equitable and dignified educational services for all children.
