Suripno Rekonstruksi Bentuk Pertunjukan Topeng Dhalang Pamekasan Sebagai Upaya Pelestarian
Abstract
Topeng Dhalang performance, which is the pioneer of Madurese art, lived
in the heyday of Aryo Menak Senoyo's reign in the Jamburangin Propo-Pamekasan
monarchy in the XV century. But now its existence has experienced extinction. The essence of the research is to discuss Topeng Dhalang Pamekasan performance through
the problems that are of concern: 1) What is the form of the reconstruction of Topeng
Dhalang performance and 2). How to preserve it. The research approach uses
qualitative methods in which the type of writing is descriptive. So that the focus of the
research objective is the analysis process carried out to solve the problem, then writing
the results of the data obtained is poured into descriptive words. The results of the
research to revive this art were carried out by tracing back the traces left behind, an
artifact that was still left in the form of Pamekasan gending documents. Through the
interpretation of gending, the creation of dance movements is carried out by adopting
the Topeng Getak Pamekasan dance moves and the dance movements are sourced from
the vocabolary of the Topeng Dhalang Slopeng Sumenep performance. The process of
forming motion is carried out through the stages of exploration, improvisation,
evaluation and formation, cultivating gending, dance clothing, masks and performance
properties.
The first appearance of the Topeng Pamekasan show brought the play "Dewa Ruci"
a story that depicts the character Brontoseno being sent by his teacher Begawan Durno
to look for "Tirta Prawitasari" in the middle of the wide ocean even though Dewi
Kuntitalibroto and all the Pandhawa brothers prevented him, but because of his
determination, Brontoseno went to the ocean. The battle took place in Brontoseno with
the Life Saber Dragon Snake and ended with the beast being killed. Then Brontoseno
met Dewa Ruci as a true image of himself, then Brontoseno was told to enter through
Dewa Ruci's left ear a dialogue occurred about the meaning of the science of nobility or
the science of Sangkan Paraning Dumadi or according to the Dalang of the Dead
Science Sakjorning Urip or the Science of Kasampurnaning urip. To tell this story, all
the players wear masks as a substitute for the characters who are brought, the dialogue
settings of the players are carried out by a puppeteer as well as the storyline controller.
