Perancangan VLAN untuk Segmentasi Jaringan Akademik Berbasis Simulasi Cisco Packet Tracer
Keywords:
Network segmentation, Virtual Local Area Network, Inter-VLAN routing, Hierarchical star, Network simulationAbstract
This study focuses on the design of network segmentation using Virtual Local Area Network in an academic environment to overcome increasing network traffic complexity and broadcast domain issues. The topic was chosen because efficient network management is essential to support institutional operations without requiring additional physical infrastructure. The research employed an experimental approach based on network simulation, including literature study, network requirement analysis, topology design, configuration implementation, and connectivity testing using simulation tools. The network was designed using a hierarchical star topology with several logical segments representing different user groups, and communication between segments was enabled through inter-network routing. The results show that the implementation successfully reduced broadcast domains, improved traffic organization, and enabled stable communication within and between segments. Connectivity tests indicate that the configuration operates effectively according to the design objectives. These findings demonstrate that logical segmentation provides an efficient and flexible solution for managing complex academic networks and can be considered as a reference for future real-world implementations.
