Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of implementing active learning strategies on improving the reading interest of third-grade students at SDN Kraton 2 Magetan. The low reading interest among students can hinder the development of text comprehension skills and other cognitive abilities. Active learning, which involves group discussions, student collaboration, and the use of technology, is considered effective in enhancing reading interest. This research used a pretest-posttest control group experimental design with a sample of 60 students, divided into experimental and control groups. The results indicate that the experimental group, which implemented active learning, showed a significant increase in reading interest compared to the control group. Active learning has been proven to increase student engagement in reading activities and motivate them to read more frequently.
