Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the school environment in shaping the behavior of elementary school students. The school environment includes physical, social, and cultural aspects that directly or indirectly influence student behavior at SD Negeri Karangsono, Barat District. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of fourth to sixth-grade students, teachers, the principal, parents, and school staff. The findings indicate that a clean, well-organized, and comfortable physical environment contributes to improved learning focus and student discipline. Positive social interactions between teachers and students, as well as character-building habituation programs, have proven effective in fostering prosocial behaviors such as responsibility, empathy, and cooperation. A holistically and consistently managed school environment plays a strategic role in shaping student behavior in alignment with social and moral values. These findings provide a valuable foundation for the development of policies and practices in character education at the elementary school level.
