Critical thinking is an essential 21st-century skill that must be developed from an early stage of education. However, learning practices in elementary schools often emphasize rote memorization and fail to stimulate higher-order thinking. This study aims to examine the effect of the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model on the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Unggulan Magetan. A quantitative approach was employed using a pretest-posttest control group experimental design. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, classroom observations, and interviews, and analyzed using paired sample t-tests and independent t-tests. The results revealed a significant improvement in the critical thinking abilities of students in the experimental group after the implementation of the TTW model, with a significance value of p = 0.001 (p < 0.05), while the control group showed no meaningful change. Students also responded positively to the TTW model, as evidenced by increased engagement and enhanced ability to express ideas. In conclusion, the TTW model is effective in enhancing critical thinking skills in elementary students. These findings offer practical implications for teachers and schools to adopt TTW in fostering higher-order thinking skills. Future research is recommended to explore the model’s application across different subjects and educational levels.
