Abstract
Early childhood children experience a golden period (the golden years) which is a period
when children begin to be sensitive / sensitive to receive various stimuli. Traditional games are
increasingly marginalized in the world of education, children, and social life in society, because of the
many modern games that have emerged so that traditional games are no longer used as one of the
methods taught in schools, including in Pembina Gondang State Kindergarten. The results of preresearch
observations conducted by researchers at Pembina Gondang State Kindergarten found that
playing activities were not one of the methods that were often used, let alone traditional games.
Researchers also found several problems faced by the school, especially regarding social skills, such as
some students who tend to be happy and choose to play alone, do not want to interact and socialize with
other children, and isolate themselves. Some prefer to annoy other children, are difficult to manage, and
like to argue.
This research was carried out with the aim of knowing the objective description of Increasing Social
Skills Applying the Gobak Sodor Game to Group B Students of the Gondang State Kindergarten,
Tulungagung Regency, Semester I 2019/2020. The subjects of this study were group B students of
Pembina Gondang State Kindergarten, Tulungagung Regency, with 17 students. The study was conducted
in mid-semester, in September - October 2019 at Pembina Gondang State Kindergarten, Gondosuli
Village, Tulungagung. Class B teachers at Pembina Gondang State Kindergarten are participants who
act as implementers of the teaching and learning process. The principal is a researcher, who designs and
designs lessons designed with teachers.
Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it was concluded that the social skills of children
in the Pembina Gondang State Kindergarten class experienced an increase after being given a stimulus
with the application of the Gobak Sodor game. After being given action in the first cycle there was an
increase to 429 with a percentage of 50.47 and in the second cycle of 733 with a percentage of 86.24.
These data provide evidence that traditional games are effective enough to be used as a menu of learning
in improving children's social skills in the Gondang State Kindergarten class.
