Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing active learning strategies on increasing reading interest among third-grade students at Keraton 2 Elementary School, Magetan. Reading interest is a crucial factor influencing the development of students' literacy skills, which plays a role in improving their understanding and mastery of subject matter. Active learning, which directly engages students in the learning process, is expected to create a fun learning experience and increase students' reading interest. This study used an experimental design with a quantitative approach, with two groups of third-grade students as samples: an experimental group that implemented active learning strategies and a control group that followed conventional learning. Data were collected through reading interest questionnaires administered before and after the implementation of the learning strategies. The results showed that the implementation of active learning strategies had a positive effect on increasing students' reading interest, as indicated by significant differences in pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental group. This study recommends the use of active learning strategies as an effective method for increasing students' reading interest in elementary schools.
